{"id":7396,"date":"2019-05-07T12:24:05","date_gmt":"2019-05-07T08:24:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/armecofront.net\/?p=7396"},"modified":"2019-05-07T12:24:05","modified_gmt":"2019-05-07T08:24:05","slug":"gladzor-aldermens-council-approved-public-petition-on-banning-metallic-mining-in-gladzor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.armecofront.net\/en\/gladzor-aldermens-council-approved-public-petition-on-banning-metallic-mining-in-gladzor\/","title":{"rendered":"Gladzor Aldermen&#8217;s Council Approved Public Petition on Banning Metallic Mining in Gladzor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Direct democracy recorded another success in Armenia: on 29 April 2019, the Aldermen\u2019s Council of Gladzor optimized community in Vayots Dzor Region adopted a resolution, which approved the proposal laid down in the collective petition entitled \u201cOn Making Gladzor Community An Environmental and Economic Area and Banning Metallic Mining in the Community\u201d submitted to Community Head and Aldermen\u2019s Council.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Reminder: on 19 April, the residents of Gladzor, Vernashen and Getap villages, a part of Gladzor Community, submitted a public petition to the Community Head and Aldermen\u2019s Council signed by 2152 residents, where they demanded and requested:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>1<\/strong><strong>\u2024 To adopt a resolution, which will ban and in future exclude carrying out prospecting and mining operations related to metallic mining in the administrative area of Gladzor community.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>2. With the involvement of community members, to develop a complex project on the development of ecologically sustainable and green economy for Gladzor and Vayots Dzor Region, and we are willing to support the state governance and local government bodies in the implementation of this project.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can read the entire petition <a href=\"http:\/\/www.armecofront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/%D5%80%D5%A1%D5%B6%D6%80%D5%A1%D5%A3%D5%AB%D6%80-%D4%B3%D5%AC%D5%A1%D5%B1%D5%B8%D6%80.pdf\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>So far two other communities in Armenia have come up with the initiative not to allow metallic mining in their natural environments \u2013 Noyemberyan in the spring of 2018 and Jermuk in the fall of 2018.
